Facebook Credits is the name of the virtual currency used on the Facebook Platform. Credits are used to buy virtual goods in any Facebook application or game that accept payments. You can purchase Facebook credits directly from within the game or app or you can purchase them through the Account Settings page.
Buy Facebook Credits Within a Game
Sign in to your Facebook account and load your favorite Facebook games. Go to the top of the page and click the “Get Facebook Credits” button. You will be directed to a checkout page where you can choose the amount of credits you want to buy. Finally, you will be asked to pay using credit card, PayPal, Western Union or other local payment methods.
Alternatively, you can head to the game’s shop or store and pick out the item you want. Click the “Buy” button next to the item. If you have zero game cash or zero Facebook credits, a pop-up will appear saying: “You don’t have enough money to buy this item. Get more credits.” Follow the prompts to be directed to the checkout page, select the bundle you want and pay for it.
Buy Facebook Credits from Account Settings
Sign into your Facebook account and go to “Account Settings” under “Account” in the upper right corner of the Facebook page. Click the “Payments” tab. You will see your “Credits Balance” page. Click the “Buy More” link next to it. Now select your preferred payment method and click “Continue.” Select the amount of credits you want to buy and click “Continue.” Follow the screen prompts to enter your payment information.
If you are using a mobile phone, enter the complete mobile number—including area code—and click “Continue.” You will receive a text message with instructions on how to complete the purchase. If you are using a credit card, enter the card holder’s name, card number, expiration date and security code. Click “Complete Purchase.” If you are using PayPal, enter your PayPal email address and password. You will be directed to PayPal to verify the details of the sale. Click “Agree And Pay” to complete the purchase.
Facebook’s official virtual currency, Facebook Credits, is paid for with real-world money. You can use your credit card, PayPal, mobile phone, Western Union or one of several other payment methods to pay for credits. If you don’t want to use e-payments, you can buy Facebook credits gift cards and redeem them to get your Facebook credits.
What are Facebook Credits Cards?
The Facebook Credits gift card is a physical game card sold at participating retailers worldwide. As the name implies, they are designed for gift-giving to friends and family members. In the United States, you can buy gift cards at Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, GameStop, 7-Eleven, Radioshack, Kohl’s, Safeway, Sam’s Club, Toys R Us, Misc. Grocery, AP, Acme and many other stores. In Canada, you can buy them at Shoppers, Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Safeway. In the United Kingdom, you can buy gift cards at Tesco, GAME/GameStation and ASDA.
Facebook credits gift cards are sold in specific denominations: $5, $10, $15, $25 and $50. Wal-Mart sells $5 gift cards while Best Buy sells $10 gift cards. All other increments are available at the stores listed above. Here are the corresponding credits values for each gift card increment:
$5 Facebook Credits Gift Card — 50 Facebook Credits
$10 Facebook Credits Gift Card — 100 Facebook Credits
$15 Facebook Credits Gift Card — 150 Facebook Credits
$25 Facebook Credits Gift Card — 250 Facebook Credits
$50 Facebook Credits Gift Card — 500 Facebook Credits
To redeem gift cards, scratch off the protective covering at the back of the card to reveal the redemption code. Redeem your Facebook credits in the “Enter PIN Code” field. Gift cards are convenient because they allow you to give credits to other people and to limit your child’s spending on Facebook games. But it is actually a bit cheaper to buy credits in-game or through the “Buy More” link under Account Settings. You get 105 credits for $10 and 550 credits for $50.
